Eagle Elementary
In June 2024, the BCSD Operations and Maintenance staff collected water samples at all school buildings in the district, including Eagle. These were collected as part of regularly scheduled testing for lead levels in water potentially used for drinking or cooking. The testing is required by New York State for all public schools.
In accordance with the law, on June 14, 2024, samples from 34 water outlets at Eagle were tested. All samples were sent to a state-approved laboratory to test lead levels. District officials received the water test results from this laboratory on June 27, 2024.
Fortunately, ZERO of the samples at Eagle Elementary School showed elevated lead levels exceeding the Action Level of 5 parts per billion (ppb).
At all times, the district will ensure that all students and staff have an adequate supply of water for drinking and cooking.

Elsmere Elementary

In accordance with the law, on June 6, 2024, samples from 21 water outlets at Elsmere were tested. All samples were sent to a state-approved laboratory to test lead levels. District officials received the water test results from this laboratory on June 13, 2024.
Two locations at Elsmere Elementary School showed elevated lead levels exceeding the action level of 5 parts per billion (ppb):
- Room 3 Drinking Fountain
- Kitchen Sink #4
The sink and drinking fountain were immediately taken out of service. In the meantime, staff was asked to use alternate locations for water as repairs are made to the affected source. The remediated sources were retested on Aug.12, 2024, one location was confirmed to be below the action level and will return to active service. The other source still showed elevated lead levels exceeding the action level of 5 parts per billion ppb/micrograms per liter (ug/L) and will remain out of service for continued remediation and testing.
At all times, the district will ensure that all students and staff have an adequate supply of water for drinking and cooking.

Glenmont Elementary

- Hallway Drinking Fountain
- Principal’s Office Drinking Fountain
The drinking fountains were immediately taken out of service. In the meantime, staff was asked to use alternate locations for water as repairs are made to the affected sources. In accordance with the law, on June 12, 2024, samples from 55 water outlets at the high school were tested. All samples were sent to a state-approved laboratory to test lead levels. District officials received the water test results from this laboratory on June 27, 2024.
Five locations showed elevated lead levels exceeding the Action Level of 5 parts per billion (ppb):
- G100 Drinking Fountain
- Supervisors Break Room Sink
- D-Wing Hallway by Room 150 Drinking Fountain
- Kitchen Steam Kettle #2
- Toilet Building Hose Bib
The affected sources of water were immediately taken out of service. In the meantime, staff will be asked to use alternate locations for water as repairs are made to the affected sources. The remediated sources were retested on Aug. 12, 2024 and some locations still showed elevated lead levels exceeding the action level of 5 parts per billion (ppb) and will remain out of service for continued remediation and testing.
