She’s a rising rock star, a former contestant on NBC’s The Voice and a graduate of Suburban Council rival Shaker High School, but that didn’t stop singer and guitarist Moriah Formica from spending time (virtually) with BC music students as part of Women’s History Month. The 20-year-old, who told the Bethlehem students she discovered her love of performing as a fifth-grader when she accompanied her class on guitar as they sang “Eye of the Tiger,” answered student questions, spoke of her struggles with mental health and sought to empower the high school students to follow their dreams.
BCHS principal Dave Doemel and members of the high school music staff facilitated the conversation with Formica. The session can be viewed below:
Formica said she is looking forward to returning to performing when COVID restrictions are lifted. She recently co-founded an all-female rock band called Plush that has been building a steady fan base. You can learn more about Moriah Formica on her website.
