High schoolers motivate middle school musicians

Eighth-grade musicians from the middle school recently visited the high school where they got a glimpse of the next level of musical achievement at BC. The students got to play next to high school students and also watch and listen as the the older students performed for them.

Orchestra students sat in with the BCHS Philharmonic Orchestra and band students joined the Wind Ensemble where they heard some of the pieces they will be playing in a few years. They also got all their questions about high school answered by the people living it. The high schoolers offered tips on technique, musicianship and how to balance practice with schoolwork.

The visits are intended to help the students visualize their own futures in music and encourage them to continue their musical pursuits. Eighth grade students are beginning to plan their schedules for freshman year.

Thank you to our high school students and to our Music Department faculty for making these visits memorable.
