BC has a new Spirit Cup winner following Monday’s K-5 Spirit Run held at Elm Avenue Park. Hamagrael Elementary School has won the trophy for the 2024-25 school year. The school had nearly 33% of its students take part in the third annual districtwide fun run for grades K-5.
More than 480 runners participated in the November 11 BC Spirit Run. The event was sponsored by the district’s Wellness Committee as a recreational activity for elementary students on Veterans Day. The event also featured a salute to members of the armed forces, with local veterans serving as flag bearers and BCHS sophomore Emily Schneiderheinze performing the national anthem for attendees.
Members of the boys cross country team served as school captains, course marshals and finish crew.
2024 K-5 Spirit Run Results
The morning included a 1/4-mile run for K-1 students; a 1/2-mile run for grades 2-3 and a timed 1-mile race for students in grades 4-5. There was also a 1-mile run for parents and faculty members.
In addition to winning the Spirit Trophy, Hamagrael Elementary was also named “fastest school,” with four Hamagrael students finishing in the top 10 in the Grade 4-5 race.
Two students earned awards for fastest times in the Grade 4-5 race. They are:
- Boys #1: Callen D. – Hamagrael (6:37.95, a course record)
- Girls #1: Anna L. – Elsmere (7:33.01)

- Emma A – Glenmont
- Callen D. – Hamagrael
- Henry F. – Slingerlands
