Grade 5 orchestra students in a Spring String Fling at BCMS

Over 80 fifth-grade orchestra students from all five elementary schools gathered at BCMS this week for an exciting look at the middle school orchestra program during the Spring String Fling on March 25.

This event provided an opportunity for students to meet middle school music teachers, including orchestra director Jody VanVoris, and explore rehearsal and performance spaces. Students connected with peers from the district’s five elementary schools and performed as a full ensemble.

Under the guidance of elementary orchestra teacher Mrs. Lillierose David and Mrs. VanVoris, the students showcased their talents by collaborating on three musical pieces (see video below). They also had the chance to ask Mrs. VanVoris questions about the sixth-grade orchestra and learn about additional music opportunities with chorus teacher Katie Daly.

A big thank you to all the music teachers, chaperones, and students who contributed to the success of the Spring String Fling!
