Girls XC state champions earn top-five finish in national competition

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the girls cross country team finished fifth in the country in the 5k Championship race at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon.

The team was represented by Kate Bannigan in a time of (18:27.5), Sophia Chromczak (18:28.9), Logan Kuhn (18:40.7), Charlotte O’Meara (18:43.1), Anna Chrapowitzky (18:56.2), Sidney Graham (19:40.0), and Tess McNamara (19:43.1). This was the team’s third consecutive year qualifying for NXN, and their best ever finish! They placed 17th in 2022 and 11th in 2023. The meet was won by Denver (CO), followed by Lone Peak (UT), Clovis (CA), and Academy (CO).

Congratulations, Kate, Sophia, Logan, Charlotte, Anna, Sidney and Tess! And, congratulations to Coach Tucker Chrapowitzky and Coach Darnell Douglas.

The girls cross country team will be recognized by the BC Board of Education at an upcoming meeting.
