Donation request: Support the BC Community Day

All BC faculty and staff will participate in BC Community Day on Monday, Mar. 31, a Superintendent’s Conference Day. Some schools are requesting donations to support their efforts. Anyone can drop off these items at the schools during regular school hours, on or before Friday, Mar. 28. 

BCHS (Giving Closet)

The district’s science department is organizing donations for a new Giving Closet at BCHS that will be a free resource for high school students who
need clothing, school supplies, hygiene products, and other essentials. 

  • Gently used clothing (school-appropriate)
  • New hygiene products (soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.)
  • School supplies (notebooks, pens, backpacks)

Hamagrael (St. Catherine’s Center for Children)

Staff at Hamagrael will be assembling hygiene kits that will be donated to St. Catherine’s Center for Children in Albany. The school is seeking donations of:

  • Travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, moisturizer, toothpaste, and disposable razors.

Elsmere (Street Soldiers)

Staff at Elsmere will be assembling snack packs that will be donated to Street Soldiers, an organization that combats food insecurity. The school is seeking donations of: 

  • Old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Fine sea salt
  • Nuts, seeds, chocolate chips, shredded coconut, dried fruit,
  • Creamy peanut butter
  • Honey or maple syrup
  • Vanilla extract
  • Parchment paper

Glenmont (Bethlehem Community Fund)

Staff at Glenmont will be organizing a used book sale on Apr. 1 for families at the school. All proceeds from the book sale will be donated to the Bethlehem Community Fund. The school is seeking donations of: 

  • Gently used books appropriate for children in grades K-5 (No board books)

Nursing Staff (To Love a Child Inc.)

The BC nurses will be assembling Women’s Kits that will be donated to To Love a Child, Inc., an organization that provides humanitarian assistance to impoverished children and their families throughout the world.

  • New, reusable sanitary pads
  • Used eyeglasses
