Donate your gently used backpacks to the BC Backpack Program

Are you replacing an old backpack with a new one this year? Put that gently used backpack to good use by donating it to the BC Weekend Backpack Program. Backpacks can be dropped off at any school from Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30 between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Bethlehem Central High School sponsors a districtwide effort to address food insecurity and food shortages affecting some of our students through a weekend backpack food program.

Every Friday during the school year, more than 80 backpacks are filled with nonperishable, individually-portioned foods by student volunteers. They are distributed to students at their schools each week.

Generous community donors have ensured there is enough food available for the remainder of the school year, however, there is currently a shortage of backpacks. If you have a backpack you would like to donate to the program, please drop it off at any one of the district’s seven schools from Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30 between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

If you are a family who would like to receive a backpack through the BC Weekend Backpack Program, please contact the main office of your child’s school after Sept. 5, the first day of school.
