BCSD’s Food Services will celebrate National School Breakfast Week in all BC cafeterias from March 3-7.
National School Breakfast Week (NSBW), established by the School Nutrition Association, aims to highlight the vital role of a nutritious breakfast in enhancing academic success. This initiative emphasizes that starting the day with a healthy meal can significantly impact students’ performance and learning.
BC cafeterias will celebrate throughout the week with fun activities, goodies, and a recipe contest for students K-8! For an opportunity to have their recipe featured on the breakfast menu, students are encouraged to submit their favorite breakfast recipe by Friday, March 7. Each submission should include the student’s name, grade, and the name of their teacher or homeroom teacher. There will be a designated submission box near the register in each cafeteria.
All of BC’s school cafeterias offer breakfast daily. To view breakfast menus visit Food Service Menus on LINQConnect. For printable PDF menus visit: Food Service Menus.
As a reminder, families are encouraged to review eligibility and apply for the federal free and reduced lunch program. Families may apply at any time throughout the school year. Meals for students whose families meet the household eligibility criteria receive breakfast and lunch free of charge.
