On Tuesday, April 8, a disruption in New York State’s computer-based testing resulted in the postponement of state testing for middle school students (grades 6-8) only. The testing is now rescheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, April 9-10.
The issue was identified around 8:35 a.m. when the Northeast Regional Information Center (NERIC) notified school districts that the testing platform was “down” and instructed schools to “please standby.” Students at BCMS had already been seated and were ready to begin testing at 8:30 a.m. By 9 a.m., the district decided to resume regular instruction and delay the first day of testing until Wednesday.
It is important to note that testing for elementary students (grades 3-5) was not affected by this outage. NERIC provided an update at 9:49 a.m., confirming that districts could proceed with testing, and students at the five elementary schools began their tests at 9:50 a.m.
