Three Bethlehem Central High School students had an impressive showing at the New York State Forensics League Championship Tournament, held recently at the Bronx High School of Science. Students Samuel Harwayne-Hymes, Keiran McNay and Molly Wladis represented BCHS, debating the resolution: The development of Artificial Intelligence is Immoral.
The team’s dedication and skill stood out. Wladis placed among the top performers of a highly competitive group of debaters at the tournament. First-year debaters Harwayne-Hymes and McNay demonstrated strong performances against experienced competitors.
Both Wladis and McNay qualified for and will compete in the National Speech & Debate Tournament, which will be held in Chicago later this year.
“I’m incredibly proud of these talented students who demonstrated not only their outstanding debating and critical thinking skills, but also their dedication and perseverance,” said BCHS Speech & Debate Club Advisor Mayur Patel. “We are a small program and competing at the state and national level are significant achievements.”
Congratulations and good luck to Molly and Keiran at nationals!
