Twenty-seven Bethlehem Central High School students participated in the 37th annual Siena College High School Computer Programming Contest on Friday, Mar. 28. The students worked together in teams of four to complete seven challenging programming problems over several hours. BC was one of 27 schools statewide to participate with a total of 424 students involved in the year’s contest.
One of the BC teams, the Bethlehem E team — Molly Wladis, Andrew Faller, Samuel Harwayne-Hymes, and Alexander Skuza — earned an Honorable Mention award for finishing in the top 5 of 72 teams competing at the “Green Level.” Green Level teams are geared toward students enrolled in their first programming course. Gold Level teams usually include students with two years of programming experience. The E team completed four of seven problems in 176 minutes.
BC Computer Science teacher Rachel Noonan said all of the BC teams did an outstanding job representing our district.
