BCMS students in Patrick Gilday’s Introduction to Engineering and Design class recently visited Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for a STEM day focused on Technology and Aeronautical Engineering.
“The students really enjoyed the trip,” said BCMS Engineering and Design teacher Patrick Gilday. “It was a great opportunity to see what studying engineering will look like when they get to college.”
The day was hosted by the RPI Engineering Ambassadors (EAs), a group of RPI Engineering students devoted to inspiring the next generation of engineers by sharing their knowledge of cutting-edge technology and real-world challenges in engineering. Through engaging hands-on activities and innovative presentations, they demonstrate practical applications of STEM concepts, fostering team-building and problem-solving skills.
BCMS students participated in an engaging day with module presentations and hands-on labs. The activities covered various topics, including manufacturing, architecture, fabrication, wind tunnel experiments, and the flight simulator.
“RPI is a great school with excellent facilities,” said Gilday. “They loved the hands-on activities and to see manufacturing equipment in use and how what they are studying now applied to what they saw. I feel like the students got back to school with a renewed enthusiasm for engineering and what being an engineer might mean for them!”
Thank you to the RPI Engineering Ambassadors for inspiring our students!
