Additional call received by police overnight deemed NOT credible

An important update from Superintendent Jody Monroe…

Dear BC community:

The Bethlehem Police Department received an additional phone threat on Thursday night, Oct. 3, at approximately 11:40 p.m. The anonymous caller threatened gun violence at an unspecified “football game” at Bethlehem Central High School today, Friday, Oct. 4. The police department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have informed the school district that this threat is considered non-credible and that the agencies are investigating the call as part of an ongoing swatting hoax that began on Sept. 10. The department and FBI have determined that the calls are coming from outside the area.

Out of an abundance of caution, there will be additional police presence at the high school after school and this evening.

We understand that news of these calls creates undue stress and a growing frustration surrounding the pace of the investigation. However, we trust the diligence and careful efforts of law enforcement to bring this investigation to a close. We will continue to cooperate with their investigation and follow their lead on issues of student and staff safety.

Thank you for your patience and your support.

Sincerely,

Jody Monroe

Superintendent
