The district’s bus driver shortage continues and YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION is required. This is especially important as we begin a new school year relying on a COVID mitigation strategy.
We are asking all parents K-12 to verify their bus registration choice in Aspen by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27.
Bus schedules and stops are set to be released on Monday, Aug. 30. However, the district is still approximately 10 drivers short of what it needs to accommodate all students in a timely fashion for the start of the school year. The district has been working all summer to hire drivers and to find efficiencies and consolidate routes based on actual ridership. Through its efforts, the district has been able to consolidate 11 routes at the elementary and middle school levels, however, there is an unusually high number of requests for student transportation at the high school. If these numbers stay the same, bus transportation at the high school may have to be adjusted with many students living closest to the high school having to be dropped off at school between 7:15-7:20 a.m.
What do we need you to do?
- All families K-12 should check their child’s bus transportation request in Aspen as soon as possible, but no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27.
- If you need to change your child’s bus transportation needs, please do so in Aspen.
- Please understand that accurate ridership data is vitally important. If your child will not be riding the bus for the start of the school year, please check “NO.”
If a child needs transportation at a later date, you will be able to notify transportation of this decision at that time.
Thank you for your cooperation as we look to address this latest challenge!
