BCMS Dean Andrew Baker was appointed K-12 ELA Supervisor by the Board of Education at its June 6 meeting.

“This is a dream come true for me,” said Baker, who worked as a Middle School Dean for the past five years and prior to this he was an English teacher at the Middle School. “I began my BC career in the English Language Arts Department, so to be named its supervisor is a real honor.”

“We are very excited to have Mr. Baker in this new role and are confident that he will continue to move the department forward,” said Superintendent Dr. Thomas J. Douglas. Please join me in welcoming Andy to this position."

“I am excited to be able to work with the dedicated teachers in the English department on the common goal of moving our ELA program forward in the years to come. I thank the district, Dr. Douglas, Assistant Superintendent Jody Monroe, and the Board for this opportunity,” said Baker.

Baker’s entire public school education career has been in the Bethlehem Central School District; the last five as the BCMS Mohawk House Leader and the 11 before that as an English teacher. He lives in the district with his wife and two sons.

Baker will formally make the move on July 1, after which the district will seek applicants for a dean's position.
